About

The Turkish Women’s Philanthropic Association (TWPA)Founded on 10th May 1970, the TWPA was established by a group of visionary Turkish Cypriot women who came together to create a forum for Turkish women. By 1975, the TWPA became a registered charity with a mission to provide practical and financial help, advice, and guidance to Turkish, Turkish Cypriot, and Kurdish women and their families.

A significant milestone in the Association’s history was the purchase of our very own building in 1992, located at Willoughby Road, Hornsey, London N8. This building, known as the TWPA Centre, has become a hub for the community. It serves as a drop-in centre, provides information services, and hosts social events and health seminars.

The TWPA was founded on the principles of support and empowerment, offering a safe and welcoming space for Turkish-speaking women from all walks of life to gather, build friendships, and find support in every aspect of their lives.

Over the past 50 years, our charity has worked tirelessly to encourage, nurture, and empower women in our community. By providing opportunities for education, employment, and personal development, we have helped countless women improve the quality of their lives and the lives of their families, enabling them to fulfill their potential. We are proud to have played a role in driving positive change within our community and remain dedicated to continuing this important work.

Empowering Women, Transforming Lives

Today, the opportunities for women are boundless. It’s inspiring to see so many of our members thrive as doctors, lawyers, councillors, teachers, and in so many other professions. The contributions of Turkish women are now more valuable than ever in addressing the needs of our community. Their achievements serve as a beacon, encouraging the younger generation to aim higher and achieve greatness.

Our new committee members are energized and honored to take on their roles. They are committed to staying relevant, forward-thinking, and responsive to the needs of our growing and evolving membership. Together, we aim to make a real difference in the lives of Turkish women and their families by extending a hand of friendship, support, and guidance.

The TWPA Centre remains open to all. We are here to listen, support, and advise as best we can. Whether young or old, your voice matters to us. So please don’t hesitate—come forward, share your thoughts, and let us work together to continue building a stronger and more supportive community for everyone.

We are here for you.
